Artist´s Statement
I am fascinated by colors and light in nature – anything from soft blues and verdant greens to vibrant reds and yellows. Even an overcast day in winter has it’s own beauty in the colors I see – gray is never just gray – it is blue and violet and silver. I try to capture those colors I see in nature.
I love clouds – they are ethereal, ever-changing, and yet, each cloud formation has its own personality. Painting clouds is a passion. Whether it is a soft spring sky, a stormy and heavy sky, or a brilliant sun-filled sky, clouds are there to reflect what is around them. That is what I try to capture.
Experimentation in various styles of expression is something I enjoy. I do not want to limit myself in one medium, or focus on a limited subject-matter. I believe that to grow as an artist, I must be willing to try new things and to see what fits best for the way I want to express myself in art. I work mostly in acrylics, but also use various mediums such as watercolor, colored pencils and pastels. I have begun some experimentation in photography as well. The overriding theme of what is important to me is my interpretation of what I see – my impression of color, form and light.
